Our Philosophy

Our Philosophy

At Rainbow Child Development Center, we believe each child is a unique individual who deserves the best. We are committed to providing a quality child care program in a safe, warm, and loving environment where a child’s individuality can flourish.

We provide an enriching environment that encourages a child to learn through active play, thus enhancing his/her overall development. Our program is structured to insure a feeling of security, but is designed to meet individual needs and allow a child to develop at his/her own pace.

With guidance from qualified teachers, a child will learn acceptable social behavior through use of behavior modification and positive reinforcement. He/she will be encouraged to develop a positive sense of self and have many happy experiences.

We believe that parents/guardians are the primary educators of their children. The role of our program is to assist the parent(s) in the care and education of each child. As such we believe in a strong parent/teacher partnership. All parents/guardians are encouraged to:

  • Volunteer time  at/for the Center
  • Visit the Center at any time
  • Share any special talents or hobbies with their child’s class.

We believe that a child’s work is his play and his play is his work. Children learn through play so the play at Rainbow CDC is structured to maximize a child’s success and minimize failure, which allows children to meet their needs for acceptance, affection, and approval. Children gain a strong sense of self-esteem and social competence through hands-on experience in a safe and supportive environment that respects individual needs, cultures and preferences.

Our philosophy is based on three basic beliefs:
1. Children need to express themselves through interactions with nurturing adults and peers while being encouraged to be individuals.
2. Children need an environment that responds to their individual needs and development, while maintaining a safe and healthy atmosphere.
3. Children need to be respected, with the opportunity to make choices within planned age and individually appropriate activities.

Overall Program Goals and Objectives

Goals:
Rainbow CDC’s overall goal is to help each child develop to his/her fullest potential - emotionally, intellectually, physically, creatively and socially. A child will benefit from a program that is concerned with all aspects of his/her development. In addition we strive:

  • To create an environment in which each parent and child feels welcomed and valued.
  • To provide opportunities for parents/guardians and children to work and play together.
  • To provide awareness of child development practices.

Objectives:
To promote self-esteem through positive interactions between children and teachers, with developmentally appropriate learning experiences and activities, through attention to children’s needs and interests but most of all through attitude, respect and acceptance.

  • To help children learn to recognize and deal with feelings and emotions.
  • To help children develop coping strategies, such as those involved in positive conflict resolution —expressing feelings and concerns, negotiating and compromising.
  • To create an environment that encourages cooperative play.
  • To provide developmentally appropriate activities to promote growth in small and large motor skills.
  • To help each child develop an appreciation for his/her body through awareness of healthy and safe practices.
  • To provide opportunities for each child to express his/her ideas through different “learning centers” — painting, dramatic play, woodworking, water play, music and science.
  • To create an environment where all ideas are accepted and appreciated.
  • To create an environment that promotes language development, both oral and written.
  • To create an environment in which each child feels comfortable offering his/her own ideas.

Thank you for taking the time to read about our approach, and please do not hesitate to contact us at Rainbow CDC if you have any questions or concerns on any aspect of our care.
